The third, annual, Malta Ski Rally was refreshingly unusual this year. First and perhaps foremost, we were actually able to ski. Despite global warming and every other dire prediction, God orchestrated beautiful weather that was not to cold, but cold enough to provide some excellent skiing.
The day started bright and early as we met at the church and loaded up the vans. After an uneventful ride, we arrived at the slopes and everyone went seperate directions. Our group had diverse interests and many went skiing or snow boarding as others hit the slopes on the tubes.
Throughout the day, many found themselves back in the lodge for games, lunch and fellowship. It was a great time because we were surrounded by great people. As always, we finished the afternoon with the requisite game of spoons, which may of left some wondering if this is how all Christians behave.
After re-packing the vans with all our belongings, we headed back to the church for dinner and the rally. We were all looking forward to the Dobbs' excellent cooking and we were not disappointed. They know how to feed a crowd of hungry teens and there was plenty of great food to go around.
Unfortunately, the day was not without its challenges. Pastor Love had a small health crisis that left everybody worried when he failed to arrive for the evening service. Pastor Scott lives in an adventure with God and he was not intimidated in the least. He promptly got to studying for the nights message and lined up Pastor Stambowski to do the main message.
I have to tell you that everyone was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the service. Each of the speakers gave us plenty of food for thought and challenging encouragement for godly living.
After the service, we ate yet again. I told you that the Dobbs know how to do it! They had a delicious desert prepared and we all enjoyed it as we fellowshipped with one another. I think it would not be a mistake to say that everyone was disappointed that the day had to end, but then again, we all met the following day for Sunday morning service. God is good and He has great things prepared for His children!
